Casilya Smith (SIL) is a multi-published author, writing coach, photographer, and owner of BOOK SIL.

Born and raised in Houston, TX, SIL has always taken pride in her vivid imagination and intrigue with artistic expression. Through dance and poetry, she found her safe haven and her voice while often enduring troubling times in her childhood.

 

During her high school years, she wrote editorials for the school newspaper surrounding topics that she experienced such as self-esteem, bullying, and verbal abuse. She received so much positive feedback from her peers, but would often shy away from all of the attention and the idea of being vulnerable.

 

After graduating Cum Laude and considering many in-state options, she took a  leap of faith and accepted admission to Florida A&M University, later receiving her B.S. in Political Science from Florida State University.

Through decades of experience, soul searching, and accomplishments, SIL decided to actively pursue her purpose by embracing all the gifts that were planted within her. Through her words and her works, SIL invites you on this journey towards discovering your voice, walking in your truth, and leaving the world with the greatest story of your life.
